To keep it healthy eat fiber like oatmeal, oranges, fresh vegetables, beans like navy, red, baked, peas, corn.

Is it healthy to routinely flush out your colon?

My fiance recently underwent a colonoscopy and the prior preparation required her to "clean out her system". Would flushing the body in this way be a healthy thing to do on a regular basis? She honestly lost nearly 9lbs in the ummm……flushing process.

No, it's not healthy. In your fiance's case, obviously there was a medical reason for doing this (to get a clear view of the walls of the colon), but for people who do it b/c they think it is healthy or 'cleansing' or 'detoxifying', it is just a bunch of b.s.
We 'clean' our colons each time we go to the bathroom. The human body does not need, and indeed can be damaged, by shoving hoses up there with water to 'clean' us.
I know people will say, "Oh, I felt so light and refreshed after!", but it is not good to rid the colon of the healthy bacteria. A good diet with plenty of fiber is all the 'cleansing' we need.

Would you tell me what remedy you use in taking care of you colon?

I had 13 pollups a few years back and had them removed. I need to know how to keep my colon healthy? Please help me as I have many tears in my colon. Is there something that can help like food, vitamin, supplements? Your answers are very important to me and others! Thank you.

Fiber- the average american is very constipated. We should be getting around 30 grams a day, but only average about 15. "Colon cleaning" is not good, it removes the friendly bacteria with it. Also, don't eat right before you go to bed at night, because then the food is stagnant and can be more irritating to the GI lumen. Drink lots of water, too. Hope that helps, although you've probably heard this advice before.
